The Second China International Oil and Gas Trade Congress (CIOGTC) was successfully held in Shanghai on 21 November 2013. The conference is organized by Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce of China (TDB), sponsored by MOFCOM and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, and co-organized by leading Chinese petroleum companies and industrial associations. Nearly 200 representatives from oil and gas corporations, as well as financial, maritime transportation, and consulting institutions in 20 countries attended the conference.

Selecting “Influence of Energy Revolution on Oil and Gas Trade Patterns” as its theme for the year, the Congress attracted wide attentions. Mr. Gao Hucheng, Minister of Commerce of PRC, congratulate the convocation of the Congress by letter; Mr. Zhou Bo delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony; Mr. Wang Shouwen, Assistant Minister of Commerce of PRC, presented and convey a keynote speech.

Distinguished guests from oil and gas industry and related areas presented and gave speeches and exchanged opinions on topical issues in macro-economy, construction of Shanghai Free Trade Pilot Zone, changes in global oil and gas market, development of unconventional energy and resources, energy trade and financial market, energy security and sustainable development.

As China’s only international high-level forum concerning oil and gas trade, the Congress was put in the spotlight in news. 30 Mainstream media institutions, including Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily, Phoenix, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, had reported the Congress. The Congress have received wide attention, and turned to be an influential and effective communication platform, on which opportunities and challenges in the industry are further discussed, international cooperation in energy is promoted, and mutual benefit and win-win situation is achieved.
